Darkfall
« on: December 16, 2008, 01:42:54 PM »
http://www.darkfallonline.com/

I am watching this project for a long time now, but never really believed that they would be able to accomplish even a bit of what they promise. A noname game developer, lots of ambitions... still, comments from actual beta-testers are starting to come out and they are mostly positive.

What do you think about it?

I'm very sceptic but the ideas and build up around it are VERY tempting to try out

Yes, graphics are rather primitive - on the other hand actual mass pvp might be possible with it (not the AoC slide show), seamless world is also nice.

Really hate elves and dwarfs. In some reviews there were a lot of talks about Darkfall as non-casual MMO. But is non-casual with such stupid races?

Let's read the lore:
"anything is possible, with dragons, elves, orks, sorcery, epic battles, quests, and the never-ending struggle between good and evil."
It's not casual - it's primitive!

.... ah, we will look at it, when them bring it to live...

I like the Wolf Race. Rest there looks pretty standard. I wonder when fantasy settings will actually bring something new to the table.

Yeah, heary dogs are pretty cute, besides they were used several times in various cyber-punk literature (Jeff Noon for example).

But the races - are the start point of the world. It first, to witch we look at in the game lore. And if they a standart - about what non-casuality can be talked?

Bah, everything is how you make it yourself with imagination, game is just an instrument.
Just remember the gameworld plot we created once for nwn module, with halflings being house pets for the elves, gnomes the feral cannibals living in the sewers etc. Everything is possible even with such trivial races.

Created a little ruckus on the forum and a mod assured me that the game is rated adult and there are no limitis to rp and anything you type. Which means it could suit our aesthetic tastes just fine. )

Not really sure if I have the temper anymore to try a new MMO where it's release will probably be buggy as hell in so many ways.. And where half the content probably won't be there from the start.
